At the outbreak of the war in the Far East the RAF was equipped with Brewster Buffalo aircraft. These were soon supplemented with Hawker Hurricanes brought in from the Middle East. The Hurricane continued its role until the end of the war in its various versions. Its later roles were mainly confined to a ground attack aircraft
