Having made a name for himself in Malta George Beurling transfer to the RCAF in September 1942 to 403 sqn. He scored his 30th kill. In October he was promoted and moved to 127 Wing. B. He earned DSO, DFC, DFM & Bar. Very much an individual he was often criticised for lack of teamwork. He was killed in a crash while trying to deliver aircraft to Israel in May 1948.
